I have set you a Task which we will complete first thing in the lesson. 

You are now going to create your own spreadsheet.

This is the scenario..

You have been asked to cost out school trip to the Theatre in Leicester. There are lots of costs involved and you need to work out how much it will cost per student, the total cost. What other analysis could you do?

  1. Open Excel
  2. Open a new Blank workbook
  3. The title is Year 7 Trip to the Curve
  4. Add the title and Format it by using Merge and Centre
  5. Add the following costs.

Travel £6.00

Ticket £18

Programme £5

Refreshments £10

Put all this information into a spreadsheet.

  1. There are 45 students going, What is the total cost?
  2. What is the cost per student?
  3. What is the total cost for 20 students and 10 students?
  4. Can you create a graph showing a breakdown of the cost.

At the end your spreadsheet should look something like this:

The school can only afford to spend £1500, can the trip go ahead?
