Tomato Sauce

My Tomato Sauce

In my cooking lesson on Thursday 22nd March we made Tomato Sauce.

This is the recipe I used:

During this lesson we continued to learn about how to chop and prepare vegetables correctly. We were also taught about the different types of hobs and how they work. Then we started to cut up our onion and garlic, you could of brought extra ingredients such as carrots and celery. We cut the onion in half then chopped it into small dices. For the garlic we could of used either a garlic press or just cut it up with a knife, I used a garlic press. After I did this I put all of my ingredients and a bit of oil  into a saucepan, I fried them until the onion was translucent and the other vegetables were soft. This took around 7 minutes. Then I added my tomatoes, tomato purée and herbs, I waited until it was bubbling and then covered it and let it simmer for 30 minutes. I let it cool for a few minutes then used a hand blender to make the sauce smooth.

I think that I could of improved on my chopping skills but I am pleased with how I fried the vegetables. The end result tasted how I intended it to.

Next we will be making soup.

  1. Lots of good description of your method, well done.
Grammar 'you could of brought' is incorrect - it should be 'you could have brought...'
What were your strengths and weaknesses for this lesson? What could you improve upon?
